York City midfielder Martyn Woolford has completed his move to Scunthorpe for an undisclosed fee.
The 22-year-old has agreed a three-year deal at Glanford Park but will have to wait to make his debut due to a cut cheek.
Scunthorpe kick-off their League One campaign against Leeds at the weekend, but Woolford will not be able to feature.
Woolford, who began his career with Frickley, won the Player of the Year award at York last season and becomes Nigel Adkins' fifth summer signing.
"Martyn has attracted a lot of interest pre-season," York communications director Sophie Hicks told the club's official website.
"He was offered an extended contract by York City in June, but did not sign it as he wished to keep his options open.
"Scunthorpe United made the club a very good offer for Martyn and he was also keen to join them in order to further his football ambitions.
"Martyn's current contract was due to end next summer and we therefore felt it was best for the club to accept Scunthorpe's offer."
