Didi Hamann has urged his Manchester City team-mates to concentrate on the job in hand and not worry about an influx of new players in January.
Cash-rich City are expected to invest heavily in the January transfer window, with several of the club's current crop having raised reservations as to what the future may hold.
City chief Mark Hughes is feeling the heat just as much as his players, with a current position of 14th unlikely to sit well with the club's ambitious hierarchy.
Veteran midfielder Hamann, who started in Saturday's 1-1 draw at Fulham, has called for unity in a bid to get more points on the board and push City higher up the table.
"We have to get on with our jobs and collect points because we haven't enough points to be really satisfied," said Hamann.
"We have to believe in ourselves. It was a good step forward getting a point at Fulham, who held Liverpool to a draw last week.
"We need quite a few more points on the board at this stage of the season.
"It's not in our hands who is coming in next month. We have to make sure we get the job done and get the points. That's all we can do."
