Midfielder says City must concentrate on winning at West Brom

Didi Hamann believes the Manchester City players must stick together and not be distracted by all the January transfer window talk. City have been linked to several world-class players after the club became the richest in the world following the takeover by the Abu Dhabi United Group in September. But such talk is a million miles away from the reality in which City presently find themselves - sitting just outside of the relegation zone on goal difference. Mark Hughes' side have won just once in eight league games and desperately need a victory when they travel to bottom side West Brom for a crunch clash on Sunday, which is being shown live on Sky Sports 1 at 1.30pm.

Stick together

Hamann said: "A lot has been written about January, about certain players, about this and that. But we have to stick together. "We have to make sure we put in a performance on Sunday, win the game and things will look different. "I wouldn't say it's a lack of confidence. We all believe in ourselves. "But when you don't win games, obviously players do start thinking about their performances and about themselves." He added: "There are only seven points between us in 17th and Everton in seventh.
Look different
"Within two games things can look different. Other teams could be in the relegation fight and we could be out of it. "We just have to make sure we keep doing what we're doing, believe in ourselves and keep picking up points. "We'd like to be in a better position, we'd like to have more points. But there's a long way to go."
