Leyton Orient have completed the signing of Wigan's Luke Ashworth on a two-and a-half-year deal.
Skysports.com revealed last week that the 19-year-old centre-back was poised to head to Brisbane Road, and the Bolton-born defender has sealed his move a week later.
Ashworth spent two months on loan at Orient, before returning to the JJB Stadium in November.
But with the teenager's contract with the Premier League outfit due to expire in the summer, Ashworth has decided to pen a deal keeping him with the League One side until 2011.
O's boss Martin Ling said: "Luke has joined us on a long-term contract and I'm delighted to bring him back to Brisbane Road.
"I feel that we've been one light in the centre-half department all season, and although we've covered that with loans so far, it's better to bring Luke in permanently.
"With Tam (Mdkanawire), Brian Saah and Alton Thelwell in there too, I'm very happy with that part of my squad.
"Luke did very well during his time with us on loan and he's certainly one for the future."
Ashworth will go straight into the squad for Wednesday afternoon's reserve clash with Peterborough.
Also featuring for the O's is trialist Cherno Samba, formerly of Millwall, Plymouth, Spanish side Cadiz and Finnish club FC Haka, who will be given a run out up front.
