Adam Boyd has expressed his delight at agreeing a deal to rejoin Hartlepool United from Leyton Orient.
The striker is returning to his home-town club next season after Orient accepted an undisclosed five-figure bid from their League One rivals.
Boyd originally left Hartlepool in 2006 to join Luton Town and was surprised to have the opportunity to go back to the North East.
"I'm really looking forward to it - I wish we could start the season tomorrow to be honest," Boyd told the club's official website.
Done and dusted
"I was a little bit surprised but delighted when I first heard Hartlepool were interested in bringing me back.
"And I'm just glad things moved on as quick as they have really.
"It's all done and dusted now and I'm just concentrating on coming back to Hartlepool."
Boyd will fill the void created by Joel Porter's return to Australia and director of sport Chris Turner has another signing lined up.
Turner told the Hartlepool Mail: "The new season started weeks ago and I'm hoping to sign another player in the coming days."
