Striker and keeper priority for Grecians boss

Exeter boss Paul Tisdale is expecting to make a decision on trialist pair Wayne Gray and Daniel Connor in the near future. Tisdale has handed free agent striker Gray a trial as he steps up his search to add more firepower to his frontline while goalkeeper Connor would increase competition for the No.1 spot. The Grecians travel up to Brunton Park to face Carlisle on Saturday and Tisdale knows he must add to his squad if they are to build on their opening two draws in League One. Gray, who was released by Leyton Orient in the summer, has already been training with Tisdale's squad but the boss insists a decision on the 28-year-old is still some way off. "Wayne has spent a few days with us. We have had a few down here over the last few weeks, there is nothing lost. You can only gain out of it. We will see what comes of it," Tisdale told Western Morning News. "I haven't seen a lot of him, and it is certainly not anything close yet. We have allowed him to train with us, and will have a close look at him as we go. "He is a hard-working player who defends from the front. He played with Marcus [Stewart] at Yeovil, so Marcus knows his strengths and weaknesses. "He is hard-working and would do a team job from the front, which is a prerequisite, otherwise you won't be part of a team."

Connor

Tisdale is also expecting to make a decision soon on former Peterborough goalkeeper Connor. The 27-year-old Cork City player has also been on trial with the club and would provide cover for Paul Jones and Andy Marriott. Tisdale said: "We need to get back to him by the end of the week. We haven't made our mind up with him. He has certainly fitted in around the place, he just needs to fit with the dynamics of it all. "Goalkeepers are very difficult, because there's only one place on the pitch for them and you have to work the dynamic with the goalkeepers you have. But he's a really competent, serious professional player, so we'll see. "We'd like a third goalkeeper, and he would be of interest to us. He spent four days training with us, and played in a practice match yesterday."
