Scott impressed by striker's improved fitness level

Brentford boss Andy Scott has revealed he is likely to hold talks with Carl Cort regarding a new contract for the striker. Cort joined the Bees last summer and he scored his seventh goal for the club in Tuesday's 2-2 draw at struggling Southend United. His current deal at Griffin Park expires at the end of the season and he has impressed Scott with the improvement in his fitness. Scott believes that the 32-year-old is now in a better position to start more games and confirmed the former £7million man is set to be offered an extension. "Carl is probably the fittest he has been for a few years," said Scott on the club's official website. "He has more chance of playing back to back games. "We have devised a training schedule and it is working for him and for us, and it might enable us to use him more next season. "There is a good chance we will sit down and talk about a contract with him."
