Midfielder Ian Craney has left Huddersfield Town after accepting a settlement on the final year of his contract.
Craney joined the Terriers in 2008 from Accrington Stanley and made 35 appearances during his debut season, but struggled to make an impact under Lee Clark.
He had spent this campaign on loan at Morecambe, but has been sidelined since late November after suffering an ankle injury and then undergoing double hernia surgery.
The 27-year-old returned to Huddersfield earlier this week and has now come to an agreement regarding the remaining 12 months of his deal at the Galpharm Stadium.
Huddersfield boss Clark told the club's official website: "Ian was here when I joined the club in December 2008 and he has been a consummate professional throughout my time as manager.
"We did everything we could to get him fixed up with a club last summer and he has been unfortunate to see his time at Morecambe disrupted by injury, but hopefully he can make a fresh start next season and get fixed up with a club quickly."
