Gordon Greer has finalised his move to Brighton & Hove Albion on a three-year contract from Swindon Town.
Brighton confirmed on Sunday that an undisclosed fee had been agreed with League One rivals Swindon for Greer's transfer.
The centre-half has now completed his switch to the Withdean Stadium after passing a medical and he is expected to go straight into the Brighton squad for their friendly against Whitehawk on Tuesday night.
The Seagulls had been chasing Greer since the end of last season and had previously failed with two offers - the latter of which was in the region of £250,000.
Gus Poyet is looking forward to having the 29-year-old in his squad as the Brighton boss seeks to build a team capable of challenging for promotion.
"Everyone knows we were looking for an experienced centre-half, and Gordon is the type of player we wanted," Poyet told the club's official website over the weekend.
"He is an experienced defender, and had a very good season at Swindon, helping them reach the play-offs.
Greer joined Swindon on a two-year contract from Doncaster Rovers last summer and was a near ever-present in Danny Wilson's side as the club missed out on promotion via the play-offs.
