Magpies keen to keep Rodgers

Notts County boss Craig Short is determined to hang on to Luke Rodgers, who has been linked with New York Red Bulls.

The MLS side have renewed their interest in the 28-year-old, who they failed to sign in March because his criminal record prevented him from getting a visa. After an appeal he has been granted one and could look to move to America when the MLS transfer window reopens in January, though Short has other ideas. "The MLS is getting more and more attractive, as more and more big players go out there," Short told the Nottingham Evening Post. "But he is under contract here for another year and I want to keep him. "I've been very impressed with him. He trained so well in pre-season. It was unfortunate he got injured and had to have an operation."
