Jones escapes serious injury

Walsall will be without Steve Jones for two to three weeks after he suffered a sprained ankle against Plymouth.

The news is a boost for Chris Hutchings' men as it was feared Jones would be out for longer after he landed awkwardly following a robust challenge shortly before half-time on Saturday. The 33-year-old did manage to limp off and club physio Jon Whitney confirmed after a scan that no serious damage had been done. "At the time we thought it was his knee," Whitney told the club's official website. "He was in quite a bit of discomfort on Saturday evening but, after assessing him and taking him for a scan, it became apparent that he had sprained his ankle. "It's certainly better news than we first thought and, all things been equal, he'll be back to full fitness in two or three weeks."
