Long-serving Bournemouth striker Steve Fletcher is closing in on a return to action after recovering from a foot injury.
The 38-year-old has been sidelined since pre-season with a heel injury which he picked up during a friendly, but was named as an unused substitute in the Cherries' 3-0 win over Dagenham & Redbridge on Saturday.
The experienced hot-shot told skysports.com that he now hopes to be involved in this weekend's trip to Oldham as he continues to build up his match fitness.
"I was on the bench on Saturday, but the gaffer told me that he didn't want to risk me unless things weren't going our way and at 3-0 up there wasn't much need for me," said Fletcher.
"I was going to be on the bench the week before, against Huddersfield, but I hadn't managed to train a lot that week, so the gaffer thought it was too early.
"I missed a lot of pre-season training, so I'm still playing catch up on my fitness, but I'm getting closer and closer day by day.
"I've got the chance to get another week's worth of training under my belt now and hopefully I will be able to play a part up at Oldham next weekend."
