Saddlers snap up Devaney

Walsall boss Chris Hutchings has snapped up winger Martin Devaney from Barnsley on an initial one-month loan deal.

The experienced 30-year-old has over 400 career appearances under his belt from his time at Cheltenham and Oakwell, and his arrival follows up Wednesday's loan capture of Stoke defender Andrew Davies. The pair arrive at the Banks's Stadium as part of a move to inject fresh impetus in the hope of kick-starting Walsall's campaign with the Midlands outfit currently propping up the League One table. Pre-season hopes of a play-off charge have been seriously dented by a start which has seen the club lose 10 of their opening 13 games in all competitions. Both Devaney and Davies are expected to make their debuts in Saturday's home clash against Exeter as the Saddlers look to end a run of eight games without a victory, a sequence which has included seven defeats.
