Hartlepool's long-serving defender Ritchie Humphreys has revealed his pride at becoming the club's all-time appearance record holder.
The 33-year-old broke Watty Moore's record of making 472 appearances for Pools, which was completed in 1960, after coming off the bench at Exeter on Saturday.
The former Sheffield Wednesday full-back has been at the club for almost 10 years and admits that stamping his name in the club's history books was an honour.
He told skysports.com: "I'm immensely proud to have played so many games for the one club and equalling the record took it one step further, but to actually break it was a really memorable occasion for myself.
"It doesn't happen that often these days and to have played so many games, with 472 being the record that I smashed at the weekend, is remarkable.
"When I signed for the club in 2001 I never imagined that I'd be so close to making that many appearances, but we've had some very good times together since I joined.
"Every time my contract has been close to expiring there has been no hesitation in extending my stay here.
"Breaking the appearance record, in my testimonial year as well, was a fantastic honour for me and something I will always remember."
