Goalkeeper hopes for three points against Peterborough

Rochdale goalkeeper Owain Fon Williams insists that this season has been a huge success for the club, despite their failure to qualify for the League One play-offs. Dale were in contention for a top-six finish until back-to-back defeats over Easter weekend all but ended their dreams of successive promotions. However, the 24-year-old told skysports.com that they won't ease up, with games against play-off contenders Peterborough and Bournemouth still to come. "It was a difficult weekend for us and it is always tough to play two games in such a short space of time, with only a day in between to recover," he said.

Crucial

"However, without taking anything away from the opposition, the results didn't go to plan for us, but we gave it our best shot. "They aren't easy games at all, with Peterborough on Saturday, who have got a quality side and it will be a tough game for us, with them already in the play-offs. "After that we've got Bournemouth who are still chasing that final play-off spot, so it could be a crucial game for them and it will be an interesting end to the season for us. "I've been told that Rochdale have never been in the position that they are now, so it has been a great achievement to be part of team that are playing some of the best football the club has ever seen. "Hopefully, we can carry that into next season and do well again because we've enjoyed the battle this year."
