Bristol City expect veteran goalkeeper David James to sign a contract to stay at Ashton Gate next season.
James is entitled to a new deal with the Championship club after making 46 appearances for the Robins after his arrival last summer.
The England keeper has until 16th June to put pen-to-paper with Keith Millen's side, but has been linked with a move to Premier League outfit Wigan Athletic.
Robins chairman Colin Sexstone understands why there will be doubts about James' future, but is confident the 40-year-old will sign on for another year.
"David has been in contact with us and told us he will be in to sign the contract before the deadline," Sexstone told the Bristol Evening Post.
"There is always going to be speculation surrounding players of his calibre and, while he had given an indication that he wanted to return for next season, there was still some doubt.
"But the facts are these: he is happy here and wants to take up the option to stay in the Championship with Bristol City."
