Huddersfield academy graduate Chris Atkinson has signed a two-year contract extension at the West Yorkshire club.
The deal will see him stay at the club until the summer of 2013. The 19-year-old midfielder made two starts for the Terriers under manager Lee Clark last season after signing his first professional contract in the summer of 2010. Assistant manager Terry McDermott said: "We are delighted that Chris has chosen to extend his contract with the club, both myself and Lee rate him very highly. "We are pleased with what we have seen from Chris, hopefully he will kick on next season and become a regular within the team. "He has a very good footballing brain, he has the ability to pick out a pass and also score the odd goal. He has a lot going for him." Atkinson's two starts came away at Dagenham and Yeovil respectively. He played 74 minutes during the 1-1 draw at Victoria Road, with Clark commenting afterwards: "Chris was excellent in the time he had on the field." Atkinson joined the club's academy as a seven year-old and has progressed through the ranks under the stewardship of academy manager Graham Mitchell.
