Allen hopeful on Bishop fitness

Manager Martin Allen hopes Neal Bishop will be fit for Notts County's opening game of the season at Carlisle.

The midfielder was forced off with an ankle injury during the second half of the pre-season friendly defeat at Macclesfield on Saturday. After losing Ben Burgess recently with a hamstring injury and not having Alan Judge in the squad for the game at Moss Rose, Allen is hoping Bishop will recover in time for the big kick-off at the weekend. "He has hurt his ankle. I don't think it's a bad one but we will have to see how it is through this week," said Allen. "It was totally innocuous. He went in for a challenge, slightly stretching and he's twisted his ankle. Neal was outstanding on Saturday and hopefully he will be fit." Meanwhile, Brett Adams has been appointed as the club's youth-team coach.
