Notts County manager Martin Allen is happy to go into the opening game of the League One season with his existing squad.

Allen, who has made seven signings this summer, is still keen to bring in more new players but will not do so before the big kick off at Carlisle on Saturday. "At the moment we're going to sit tight," Allen told the Nottingham Post. "I will work with the players we've got and I'm happy with the players I've got. We'll keep pushing forward." Allen has failed in attempts to sign former Forest striker Marlon Harewood and Charlton forward Paul Benson. Harewood turned down a return to Nottingham to join Chinese side Shenzhen Phoenix, while Notts could not agree personal terms with Benson after having a bid for the 31-year-old accepted by the Addicks. Allen added: "I don't like talking about speculation. I think everyone knows I'm working my socks off to get deals done, but there is a lot of work and it's not always straightforward."
