the Dons on goal difference, though Karl Robinson's men have a game in hand and either side could top the table with a win should other results go their way.
One of those results would be
Charlton's trip to Rochdale. The table-topping Addicks are yet to lose this season and have won all of their matches away from home.
Rochdale though are looking for a third win on the bounce after nudging past Bury and Scunthorpe in recent weeks.
Second-placed
Sheffield United are also in contention to go top of the pile should they beat
Colchester at Bramall Lane. Boss Danny Wilson will be looking for a response from the Blades after they crashed to a 3-0 home defeat to Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield on Tuesday.

Brentford are level on points with Huddersfield and MK Dons and are ready to pounce on any slip-ups by the sides above them. They host Phil Brown's
Preston at Griffin Park.
Newly-promoted
Stevenage grabbed the result of the night in midweek when they crushed Sheffield Wednesday 5-1 at Broadhall Way. The subsequent boost in goal difference means they currently sit in sixth place on 13 points above five other teams with the same tally. One of those sides is
Notts County, who travel to play Stevenage on Saturday.
Sheffield Wednesday meanwhile will be looking to bounce back from that heavy defeat when they travel to 16th placed
Yeovil.
Mick Wadsworth's
Hartlepool can climb as high as third if results go their way on Saturday and they play host to
Bury, who are struggling down in 19th.
It has been a nightmare start to the season for
Leyton Orient, with two draws, six defeats and a minus-12 goal difference meaning they are rock bottom of the table.
Oldham are the visitors to Brisbane Road on Saturday as Orient aim to close the three-point gap that has already opened up between themselves and the rest.
Things are not much better for
Bournemouth either. The Cherries sit just a point outside the relegation zone and, after last weekend's 3-0 defeat to Chesterfield, chairman Eddie Mitchell took to the pitch and confronted angry fans. They did, however, secure a morale-boosting win against Leyton Orient on Tuesday and could climb as high as 15th if they win at second-bottom
Exeter.
Wycombe are only above the Grecians on goal difference and head to
Tranmere looking for only their second win of the season.
Scunthorpe complete the bottom four and will be keen to climb out of the relegation spots and go level on points with
Walsall in 15th, who play host to the Iron at the Banks's Stadium.
