Trio set for Shakers stay

Manager Richie Barker has hinted that three Bury players are on the verge of signing new long-term deals.

The Shakers gave winger David Worrall a new two-year deal in October with captain Steven Schumacher and top scorer Andy Bishop also agreeing new contracts last month. The trio were out of contract in the summer but Bury moved to offer them new terms and the club are now prepared to offer Joe Skarz, Peter Sweeney and Mike Jones a chance to stay beyond the end of this season too. Barker told the Manchester Evening News: "The wheels are in motion with a couple of them, with a possibility of all three signing. "We have been in negotiations with at least one of them for quite a while so we're getting there. "But they've been fantastic this season and we wouldn't have been sitting 10th if they hadn't have been."
