Ten leave in Spireites cull

Chesterfield manager John Sheridan has released 10 first-team players in the wake of his side's relegation from League One.

Aaron Downes, Greg Fleming, Simon Ford, Dan Gray, Jimmy Juan, Jamie Lowry, Alex Mendy, Dean Morgan, Derek Niven and Gregor Robertson have all been told they will be not offered a new deal at the b2net Stadium, leaving just eight players under contract. However, Sheridan has offered one-year deals to Scott Boden, Craig Clay, Tendayi Darikwa, Mark Randall, Danny Whitaker as he looks to shape a squad capable of repeating the 2010/11 League Two title-winning campaign. Youngsters Jacob Hazel, Jack Waddle and Jonathan Wafula have all been offered first-year professional terms, while loanees Nick Ajose, Franck Moussa, Liam Ridehalgh and Josh Thompson have been packed off back to their parent clubs.
