Appleton glad for Gyepes goals

Portsmouth boss Michael Appleton admits he has stumbled upon an unlikely matchwinner in the shape of Gabor Gyepes.

Hungarian centre-half Gyepes has scored twice in his last two matches for Pompey, including the decisive second goal in Tuesday's 2-1 win at Yeovil. Appleton's side head to MK Dons on Saturday looking to make it three wins in a row but the Fratton Park chief is not holding his breath for a hat-trick of strikes from his imposing defender. "I didn't expect Gabor to be celebrating scoring the winner - but we'll definitely take it," said Appleton. "He tells me he used to be a centre-forward when he was 18 and scored 18 goals in 20 games, but I'm not convinced about that."
