Hughes delighted with reception

John Hughes has thanked the Hartlepool fans for the support he has received since becoming manager at Victoria Park.

Hughes joined the Pools from Livingston following Neale Cooper's resignation, with the club bottom of the League One table. Despite having failed to win any of his first three games in charge, Hughes is hoping the team can recover from their poor start and bring success to the fans. He told the Northern Echo: "I'm not trying to appease the supporters here, but I've got to give them a special mention. "I've come down from Scotland and the people in Hartlepool have been so friendly and welcoming - it might change if results don't go our way. "It gives you a platform to bring success to the club and this place is crying out for success. It inspires you to get out of bed to want it on a morning."
