Warburton happy with stalemate

Mark Warburton was content with a point at Walsall despite the 1-1 draw ending his 100% start as Brentford manager.

Brentford, who began the day top of the table, went ahead in the 30th minute when a neat passing move ended with full-back Jake Bidwell crossing the ball to the far post where top scorer Clayton Donaldson headed his 14th goal of the season. But Walsall hit back on the stroke of half-time with Adam Chambers delivering a cross to the far post where Milan Lalkovic headed back across goal and Craig Westcarr nodded home his 11th of the campaign. Saddlers boss Dean Smith felt his side should have had a second-half penalty. Febian Brandy went down inside the box after 57 minutes but referee Scott Duncan waved away strong claims for a spot-kick. Warburton dismissed the Walsall penalty claims. He said: "I thought it was nowhere near a penalty. I thought it was a player looking for a penalty. "It was a tough point. Walsall are a good team who move the ball very well, and we had to work hard. They are a good footballing team and play the game the right way. I'm never happy to drop two points but you have to recognise that Walsall are strong and move the ball well. "Everyone keeps talking about the run we have been on but if you don't win a game, you make sure you don't lose. It's important we attack the opposition, home or away, and play at a high tempo. It was a real test."
