Shrewsbury have named former defender Michael Jackson as caretaker manager for the next three matches.
Jackson, who has been on the coaching staff since retiring in 2010, has stepped in after Graham Turner quit on Tuesday. He will take charge of Saturday's trip to Swindon, the visit to Colchester on Tuesday night and a home clash with promotion-chasing Brentford the following weekend. The Shrews will travel to Wiltshire in the bottom four following a run of five defeats in six matches which prompted veteran boss Turner's decision to leave. The club have also announced that Turner's number two John Trewick and fitness coach Tony Ford have left the club. A statement read: "We wish to thank them for the sterling work they have put in over the past three and a half years in support of Graham, and wish them success for the future. "No further statement from the club is expected to be made on this matter until we have resolved the manager position." Jackson, 40, joined the Shrews in 2008 having previously played for Crewe, Bury, Preston, Tranmere and Blackpool.
