Norwich City goalkeeper Remi Matthews has signed a new two-year contract with the club to keep him at Carrow Road until the summer of 2017.

The 21-year-old spent last season on loan with League Two champions Burton Albion and has recently agreed another loan deal at the Pirelli Stadium until January.

Matthews will be targeting a starting spot for Burton’s opening game of the season having been with the Canaries since joining the academy at the age of 10.

“I’ve been at Norwich a long time and have another year to impress now,” he said.

“In the long run I want to play here, although I’m focussing on my loan move and hopefully getting some games under my belt.

“I can’t go into preseason expecting to play the first game. There are another couple of goalkeepers below who will be pushing for it as well, so we’ll have to see what happens.

“I’m there for six months so the aim is to play as many games as possible and then take it from there.”
