The Nationwide Third Division top scorer is currently on loan at Glanford Park and having notched his third hat-trick of the season at the weekend, MacLean concedes he is not keen on returning to reserve team football at Rangers.
MacLean told Scunthorpe's official website: ''I'm playing every week which is something I was not doing at Ibrox, so I had to take the chance and come down here to see how I would get on.
''I've been scoring goals which is why they brought me here and I've gained a lot of first team experience.''
MacLean has quickly established himself as a favourite at Glanford Park and manager Brian Laws is intent on keeping the forward for a further loan period.
''Scunthorpe want to extend my loan spell but it's really down to Rangers. I think a decision will be made next month about my future,'' added MacLean.
MacLean has scored 17 times this season in The Iron's bid for promotion.
