Craig Dootson has completed his move to Bury after shunning Huddersfield Town.Craig Dootson has completed his move to Bury after conceding he was not prepared to wait for an offer from Huddersfield Town.
The goalkeeper has moved into the Football League for the first time in his career after joining Bury on a one-year deal from Stalybridge Celtic.
Dootson had previously trained with Huddersfield and had been invited back for a second stint with the League One side during pre-season.
But, once the offer arrived from Gigg Lane, Dootson acknowledged it was an opportunity he was not prepared to pass up.
"It's taken a while to get league football but I'm here now," Dootson told the club's official website.
"They were going to try and get me in pre-season and then all of a sudden Graham [Barrow] phoned me out of the blue and asked me if I would be interested.
"I've already trained with Huddersfield Town for a week and they invited me down for pre-season to play a couple of games with a look at going there.
"I spoke to Peter Jackson before I left and told him that if somebody came in, I would sign, mainly because I needed to know where I was playing. Now I have signed, I want the first team shirt - it's as simple as that."
Shakers boss Barrow is also continuing his pursuit of Rochdale keeper Neil Edwards, with talks at an early stage.
