Grimsby have completed the signing of ex-Scunthorpe playmaker Peter Beagrie.
Grimsby have completed the signing of former Scunthorpe playmaker Peter Beagrie.
The ex-Everton, Manchester City and Bradford star, now in his 41st year, becomes The Mariners' third signing of the close season.
Last season's beaten League Two play-off finalists have already added Isaiah Rankin and Phil Barnes to their squad, as new manager Graham Rodger prepares his squad for their opening match against Lincolnshire rivals Boston on August 5.
Beagrie revealed he was not short of offers but plumped for the East Coast club after being impressed by Rodgers's footballing philosophy.
"I have spent the summer agonising over a few things. I have had quite a lot of offers, which in some senses surprised me, in others it didn't," Beagrie told the Grimsby official website.
"I finished playing last year at Scunthorpe and enjoyed the season and felt like playing on for another year.
"I am at Grimsby because of the way that they are going to play football. They are going to play it through midfield, get the ball down, get it out wide and it is a lovely big pitch here at Grimsby."
