Scunthorpe United striker Steve Torpey has ruptured a muscle in his thigh.
Scunthorpe United striker Steve Torpey will be sidelined for up to a month with a ruptured thigh muscle.
The 35-year-old sustained the injury in Scunthorpe's recent 1-0 home win over Cheltenham Town, with the initial diagnosis thought to be a dead leg.
However, scans on the former Millwall, Bradford City, Swansea City and Bristol City hit-man's leg showed more serious damage than first thought.
"We thought it was just a dead leg, but it's actually turned out there's a slight rupture," said Iron boss Brian Laws.
"So he's going to be out three or four weeks. He ruptured his thigh muscle a couple of seasons ago and it is a weakened area - it's one of those things.
"It's important now that we get Daniel McBreen back fit as quickly as possible, so we don't just have to rely on (Billy) Sharp and (Andy) Keogh.
"McBreen is fit, but not match fit. It's something I need to address as quickly as possible."
