Ridley opts for Robins

Lee Ridley has agreed to join Cheltenham, rather than sign a new deal at Scunthorpe.

Lee Ridley has agreed to join Cheltenham Town, rather than sign a new deal at Scunthorpe United.

The full-back is out of contract and has been offered a two-year extension to stick with Scunthorpe.

But Ridley has accepted a three-year deal with Cheltenham and plans to finalise his move next week, after also attracting interest from Bradford.

"It's not all done and dusted yet, but I am going to be meeting John Ward on Tuesday and hopefully it will all be tied up by then," Ridley told the Forester.

"Bradford were in the equation too, but playing in League One is a big thing and I am concentrating on Cheltenham at the moment."

Cheltenham chairman Paul Baker feels the club will be securing a 'very good' deal in tempting Ridley to Whaddon Road.

Baker told the club's official website: "We are delighted to have agreed personal terms on a three-year contract.

"Lee is an experienced player and would represent a very good signing for us."
