Deon Burton's agent says the out-of-contract striker is yet to discuss a new deal with Charlton.

Striker unsure of Addicks stay

Deon Burton's agent says the out-of-contract striker is yet to discuss a new deal with Charlton. Burton, who arrived at The Valley from Sheffield Wednesday last year, has reportedly received a firm offer from an unnamed club, leaving him considering his options for next season. And agent Darryl Powell has revealed a number of other clubs have also expressed their interest in the 33-year-old. "He wants to be at the best club he possibly can be," Powell told the South London Press. "He's thoroughly enjoyed his time at Charlton but we've yet to talk to them about his situation - the ball is in their court. "We're awaiting a call from them because they said they wanted to offer him a contract.

Interest

"I've spoken to a few other clubs and there is significant interest in Deon from teams either at the same level as Charlton or slightly higher. "There has been a firm offer from one party but it wasn't right. They have asked to be kept informed of his situation. Deon's on holiday but we're hoping to talk once he gets back." Addicks boss Phil Parkinson said: "The players who are out of contract have got the right to look elsewhere - it's a free-market scenario. "We've told Deon to go away and assess his options before sitting down with us."
