Laws: Clarke is going nowhere

Scunthorpe boss Brian Laws is delighted striker Leon Clarke will be staying at Glanford Park until the end of his loan spell.

The Charlton hitman has been in fine form for the Iron since arriving in early September, scoring 11 goals in 14 appearances, and Laws was expecting to lose him on loan transfer deadline day. Laws told the club's official website: "The good news is that Leon Clarke is going nowhere, which is a big positive because I thought he was going to be recalled. "I spoke to Leon on Thursday morning. In fact, the first thing I did was look to see if he was in training! The fact that he was is encouraging. "Charlton have had offers (to take him on loan now and buy him in January), but they are not quite what Leon is looking for, so he will stay with us until December 8 and then return to Charlton. "That is a big plus for us and has put a big smile on a few people's faces, in particularly mine."
