David Prutton's EFL predictions

Prutton's Predictions

David Prutton returns with his predictions ahead of this weekend's Sky Bet EFL matches...

But who is our resident expert tipping for victory? Read on to find out...

Fulham v Derby, Saturday 5.30pm - Live on Sky Sports Football

If there's anything that sums up the unpredictability of this league it's Derby winning four in a row and then getting turned over at home by Reading. I know I didn't see that coming!

This should be a great game under the lights at Craven Cottage between two sides who like to attack, and while it could swing either way I'm going to have to go for a draw.

Prutton predicts: 1-1 with Chris Martin to score first (40/1 with Sky Bet)

Leeds v Middlesbrough, Sunday 1.15pm - Live on Sky Sports Football

Who would have thought a month or so ago that Middlesbrough would go to Elland Road ahead of Leeds in the table? It shows you how quickly things can change in the Sky Bet Championship.

Leeds looked superb earlier in the season but things have gone badly wrong for Thomas Christiansen and his side, and all of a sudden this game on Sunday is a big, big occasion for them. That being said, I think Boro are in good form and will get all three points.

Hull v Ipswich, Saturday 3pm

Could this be Leonid Slutsky's final game in charge of Hull? The pressure is really starting to mount on the Russian and things could become very rough for him if they fail to beat Ipswich.

Ipswich, meanwhile, have a couple of wins in their last few games and are knocking on the door of the play-offs again, which goes to show just what a good job Mick McCarthy is doing there. But I think these two sides will cancel each other out. Score draw.

Prutton predicts: 1-1 (11/2 with Sky Bet)

QPR v Aston Villa, Saturday 3pm

Aston Villa beware. QPR at Loftus Road is turning into one of the toughest trips in the Sky Bet Championship, and Ian Holloway and his men will fancy another scalp on Saturday.

The Hoops turned over Sheffield United and Wolves at home in recent weeks, and they'd be a lot higher up the table if they could just take that form on the road. I think this will be another big three points for QPR.

Prutton predicts: 1-0 (15/2 with Sky Bet)

Reading v Wolves, Saturday 3pm

Reading are another side who wouldn't have wanted the international break to come after finally getting some momentum going with two wins in two. That will take some of the pressure of Jaap Stam but they'll need a few more results if they are going to get back to anywhere near where they were last season.

It doesn't come much tougher than the visit of Wolves, who have looked utterly imperious in recent weeks, and I can't see past them getting another victory at the Madejski.

Prutton predicts: 0-2 (7/1 with Sky Bet)

Sheffield Wednesday v Bristol City, Saturday 3pm

In most seasons you'd say this is a nailed on home win but Bristol City look unstoppable at the moment and this is a very tough game to call. Sheffield Wednesday have also been on a bit of an upturn lately and they will be targeting a third win on the spin on Saturday.

There should be plenty of goals in this game as both sides like to attack, but I can't split the pair of them so I'm going to have to go for a score draw.

Prutton predicts: 2-2 (12/1 with Sky Bet)

Sunderland v Millwall, Saturday 3pm

It's becoming more and more apparent that Sunderland didn't have a plan in place when they sacked Simon Grayson, and it looks like they've wasted the opportunity of an entire international break to get someone in place.

Millwall are winless on the road this season and it's the kind of game you have to win at home if you want to survive in the Championship. But I fancy Neil Harris' men to pile more misery on the Black Cats.

Prutton predicts: 0-1 (17/2 with Sky Bet)

Wigan v Bradford, Saturday 3pm

If Bradford and Co are going to start closing the gap on the top two of Wigan and Shrewsbury, then this would be a good place for them to start.

Wigan will want all three points to continue to open up the gap between themselves and the teams below, and the Latics have made the DW Stadium a fortress this season. Bradford will put up a good fight, but this is a home win all day for me.

Prutton predicts: 2-1 (7/1 with Sky Bet)

Chesterfield v Exeter, Saturday 3pm

Jack Lester is starting to turn the corner a little with Chesterfield and they were so unlucky last week to be denied victory by that last-gasp penalty at Swindon.

Exeter aren't quite the force they were at the start of the season but find themselves back in the automatic promotion positions heading into the weekend and will fancy their chances of another win here, but I think Chesterfield can continue their upturn with a win on Saturday.

Prutton predicts: 1-0 (9/1 with Sky Bet)
