Lever in talks with Stags

BRISTOL CITY defender Mark Lever has been in talks with Division Two newcomers Mansfield Town, as The Robins look to attract interest to the club's transfer-listed players.

Manager Danny Wilson listed Lever, Mickey Bell, Lee Matthews, Simon Clist, and Steve Jones in April following a disappointing end to the season, which saw the Ashton Gate club miss out on the end-of-season promotion play-offs in Division Two.

Jones (pictured) is close to a move to non-league football with Ryman League Division One North outfit Hornchurch as a player-coach, once a settlement over the last year of his Robins contract is completed.

The highly-touted Bell is expected to attract the attentions of a number of clubs, including Division Two newcomers Luton Town, who are on the lookout to replace Portsmouth-bound defender Matthew Taylor.

However, Bristol City chairman John Laycock stated that the West Country club have not received any serious offers for Bell, who has two years left on his deal at Ashton Gate.
