Bristol City boss Brian Tinnion is confident Leroy Lita will remain at Ashton Gate.Bristol City player-manager Brian Tinnion is confident goalscorer Leroy Lita will remain at Ashton Gate for a long time to come.
The former Newcastle United and Bradford City midfielder made the remarks after Lita's first half hat-trick gave The Robins a vital 4-0 win over West Country rivals Torquay United at Plainmoor on Saturday.
Lita's performances have earned him England Under-21 honours this season, as well as interest from other clubs, but Tinnion is keen for the striker to continue his future with the League One promotion-chasers.
"I'm sure we can keep hold of him," Tinnion told the club's official website.
"He wants to be at this football club and we want to keep him here.
"To be honest, I don't think this would be the right time for Leroy to move on.
"He's still learning his game at Bristol City and he'll only continue to get better by playing regular games.
"I'd love to tie him down to a ten-year contract and keep him as long as possible, but ultimately if a big club came in, then there isn't a lot we could do.
"We've a lot of young lads at this club and they will get a chance to play first team football here.
"Leroy is no different and I'm sure he wants to stay with us for as long as possible."
