Swansea City have signed striker Adebayo Akinfenwa from Torquay United.Swansea City have won the race for striker Adebayo Akinfenwa from League Two club Torquay United.
The 23-year-old joins the South Wales club on a two-year contract after rejecting a similar deal to remain at Plainmoor.
His move to The Swans will disappoint the likes of Bristol City, Blackpool, Gillingham and Swindon Town, who all were keen on signing the goalscorer.
The deal makes it Akinfenwa's sixth club in less than two years, with the striker having had previous spells with Boston United, Leyton Orient, Rushden & Diamonds and Doncaster Rovers before joining The Gulls last summer.
Swansea will now enter into talks with Torquay over a fee for the striker, who is still under 24 years of age, despite going out of contract with the South Devon outfit.
Should no deal be mutually agreed, a fee will be determined by a Football League tribunal.
"Bayo will give us extra options up front,'' Swans boss Kenny Jackett told the club's official website.
''He is a big strong lad with a good touch, both holding the ball up and in front of goal.''
