McAllister hits out at Hearts

Jamie McAllister is angry at the treatment of Hearts captain Steven Pressley.

Ex-Hearts defender Jamie McAllister wants fans to turn against majority shareholder Vladimir Romanov for the sake of the club.

The 28-year-old, who joined Bristol City this summer, is angry that Hearts club captain Steven Pressley was dropped for his side's game against Falkirk on Monday and believes ousting Romanov is the solution.

Scottish international Pressley, 33, spoke out last month when he revealed that there was "significant unrest" in the dressing room, and has since found his position at the club under scrutiny.

Hearts sporting director Alex Koslovski suggested rumours he could lose his captaincy had affected the player and that, as a result, he was "mentally not 100 percent fit" for Monday night's game, but McAllister believes the club are out to undermine his former team-mate.

"I've been speaking to one or two of the players and I can't believe what they're trying to do to Elvis (Pressley) and the way they are treating someone who commands so much respect in the dressing room," he told the Daily Record.

"There is someone at the club trying to get certain players to badmouth Elvis and they have got a cheek because he's the ultimate professional.

"Hearts would have fallen apart at least 18 months ago if it hadn't been for Elvis.

"He made that statement with (team-mates) Paul Hartley and Craig Gordon a couple of weeks ago and obviously it was a big step to take.

"But it shows how bad things have become because he always likes to keep things in-house.

"I can't believe, only a couple of weeks after he made his statement, they are now trying to do this to a man who is held in such high regard.

"It's a massive kick in the teeth and I hope the fans see the light.

"The situation will get worse before it gets better, but it will not be resolved for good until Mr Romanov walks away.

"The club would be be better off without him and I'm sure there will be people interested in taking over from him."
