Hereford boss Graham Turner is seeking goalkeeping reinforcements, as doubts culminate around the fitness of first-choice shot-stopper Wayne Brown.
Brown is currently out of action with a groin injury, and with Hereford's curtain-raiser against Rotherham looming, Turner has taken Bristol City goalkeeper Chris Weale on trial.
Weale switches to Edgar Street with a view to a loan deal, whilst Brown is remaining positive as to his readiness for the new season.
"I have had treatment, the ultra-sound hot and cold treatment and all the other bits that go with it, but I am having trouble with my full range kicking," said Brown.
"The problem is quite deep inside but I should be fine for the Rotherham game - I hope to have a good week of training this week and perform well on Saturday.
"I would like to think I will play but maybe we will sign Chris on and there will be some good competition there."
