Defender set to face Seasiders

Bristol City are confident that Marvin Elliott will be fit for Saturday's season opener against Blackpool. The midfielder was forced to sit out the Robins' final pre-season friendly against Antwerp at the weekend after suffering a recurrence of a knee problem. However, Gary Johnson insists his absence was only a precautionary measure and believes Elliott will be in contention for the trip to Bloomfield Road. "It is a problem Marvin has from time to time with his knee and, when it flares up, we have to pull him out," said City's boss. "If we don't it can swell up and he can end up missing two weeks. "We will manage his situation and we expect Marvin to be okay when the first game comes around."
