Burnley manager Eddie Howe has welcomed the return to fitness of Martin Paterson and Charlie Austin and has warned his squad they cannot take a first-team place for granted.
The pair came off the bench in Saturday's 1-0 defeat by crisis-club Portsmouth after lengthy spells on the sidelines.
Paterson suffered a thigh strain on the opening day of the season while Austin dislocated his shoulder in November, the second time he has done so since moving to Turf Moor in January.
Howe told the Burnley Express: "It gives us a massive boost. It adds real competition for places as you can see from the players who were out of the squad.
"We're getting strength in numbers and bodies. We've got two strikers on the bench and you've got to have a balance.
"It gives everyone competition for places - no-one's guaranteed their place, which hasn't always been the case for me this season, so it's a really good choice for me to have."
