Paterson: I needed games

Bristol City's new recruit Martin Paterson admits he had to get away from Huddersfield.

The 26-year-old had barely featured since the Terriers recruited Nahki Wells from Bradford in January and having made the loan move to Ashton Gate last week Paterson spoke of his determination to earn a permanent deal. "I've been unhappy at not getting a chance, despite playing really well over the Christmas period and scoring a good amount of goals," he told the Bristol Evening Post. "It's really disappointing, because I'm looking to play. You cannot be happy or comfortable with life when you are sat on the bench. "I have a lot of respect for the club and for the manager (Mark Robins), but I'm not happy with not playing at Huddersfield. "Evidently, I don't fit into the plans at Huddersfield and I have not for the past couple of months. If another manager likes me and says he wants me, then that can swing things."
