Former Nottingham Forest manager Frank Clark has urged the club’s fans to be patient with owner Fawaz Al-Hasawi.
The Midlands side lie 16th in the Championship and have just one win from their last nine games.
Al Hasawi, who sacked Dougie Freedman as manager last month, has said he would consider selling the club for the right price following criticism from supporters.
And Clark, a former Forest player and chairman, defended the Kuwaiti businessman's record since buying the club in 2012.
"The owner gets criticised a lot by fans and pundits. But he's put an awful lot of money into that football club," he told Sky Sports.
"People don't realise how much it costs to run a Championship football club these days.
"They just need to survive this season then hopefully pick the right manger, give him a decent length of time.
"If they can get out of the transfer embargo. It's not something that's going to happen overnight. That's not possible anymore."
Forest, who are managed by Paul Williams until the end of the season, are away to Reading on Tuesday evening.
