Crossley, 30, has spent his whole career with the club, barring a loan spell at Manchester United in 1988 and Millwall in 1997, and he revealed that his spell may be coming to an end after failing to agree terms with manager David Platt.
The stopper replaced the suspended Dave Beasant against QPR on Saturday wearing a vest underneath his jersey saying: "Whatever happens, I will always love you."
Crossley believes that this could have been his only opportunity to say goodbye to the supporters who have followed him for 13 seasons.
Crossley refused a contract that was offered to him because it would have meant a fourth successive wage cut, and he appears resigned to the fact that he may have to leave The Reds.
"I hope I haven`t played my last game for Forest but that may be the case."
