Bryn Gunnarsson and Danny Sonner have both signed one-year deals at the City Ground after talks with Forest boss Paul Hart.
Iceland international Gunnarsson was available on a free transfer after turning down a new contract at Stoke City while 31-year-old Sonner had been released by Walsall.
Hart was delighted to have landed the midfield pair as he prepares for the opening game of the season at home to Sunderland on Saturday.
"Brynjar and Danny have considerable experience and in addition to their footballing ability, they are the kind of character I want at the club.
"Brynjar will add to the competition for midfield places but we also know that he is capable of slotting into other positions should the need arise," Hart told the club's official website:
"Danny will also add depth to our choices in midfield and at 31 he knows the game inside out."
