Gillingham put a troubled week behind them to heap more pressure on Nottm Forest.Gillingham put a troubled week behind them to heap more pressure on fellow strugglers Nottingham Forest.
Gareth Taylor had given the visitors a first half lead at The Priestfield Stadium but a Darius Henderson penalty and Tommy Johnson goal earned The Gills the win.
Despite player-manager Andy Hessenthaler resigning in the week, Gillingham did not look particularly affected as they started brightly with Chris Hope heading over and Darren Byfield denied by Paul Gerrard.
Forest scored against the run of play on 14 minutes as Andy Reid whipped in a cross which Taylor headed past Jason Brown.
The Gills responded with Henderson heading wide before Brown showed agility to tip over Reid's long-range drive.
After Brown thwarted Taylor, and Gerrard denied Henderson an equaliser, The Gills did level on 76 minutes.
Wes Morgan was penalised for handball and Henderson tucked away the spot kick before then thumping a header against the crossbar.
Gillingham pinched a winner on 82 minutes when Johnson's first attempt was blocked but he reacted quickly to lash the rebound into the top corner.
