Marlon King's goal gave Forest a place in the FA Cup fifth round.Marlon King's early goal gave Nottingham Forest a 1-0 win over Peterborough and a place in the fifth round of the FA Cup.
However, Forest's victory was overshadowed by transfer talk, as The City Ground said farewell to Andy Reid, who was substituted late in the second half.
The Championship club have accepted a bid from Southampton for the Republic of Ireland midfielder, while Tottenham remain interested in obtaining his services.
Reid will decide where his future lies before Monday, but it seems certain that he has played his last game for the club.
King struck after just 10 minutes but Peterborough gave their hosts a real scare as they made a fight of it in the second half.
The decisive goal was well constructed, Kris Commons releasing Alan Rogers down the left and his low cross was driven in by King.
Peterborough came close to an equaliser on several occasions with Richard Logan firing wide and Paul Gerrard grasping a Steve Thomson shot at the second attempt.
David Farrell proved Posh's main threat after the interval. The winger hit the post and had two shots well saved by Gerrard, who also had to be alert to punch a Sagi Burton header off the line in stoppage time, but an equaliser eluded the League One side.
