Gary Megson has told five players they can leave Nottingham Forest.Nottingham Forest boss Gary Megson has told five players they can leave the club, but John Curtis has been offered a future at The City Ground.
Relegated Forest are already planning for next season in League One, and Megson has identified five players who he will allow to leave the club.
Striker David Johnson, who has spent time on loan at Sheffield United, is one of the quintet who can leave in the summer.
Fellow striker Marlon King is also on his way out, along with Alan Rogers, Adam Nowland and Kevin James.
Rogers and James have not been able to get into Megson's starting XI since his arrival, while King has been out on loan at Leeds.
Megson has, however, told defender John Curtis that he will be offered a new deal when his current contract expires in the summer.
Curtis signed on a free transfer from Portsmouth in February, and Megson is keen to keep one of his first signings as Forest manager.
Forest have also confirmed that 12 players out of contract at the club would not be kept on.
They include experienced campaigners such as Eoin Jess, Jon Olav Hjelde, Andy Impey and Darryl Powell.
Forest products Chris Doig, Gregor Robertson, Barry Roche, Craig Westcarr and James Biggins have been freed.
Youngsters Gavin Hurren, John Lukic and Jonathan Wilmet have also been told they will not be given terms.
