Harris close to Lions return

Millwall are closing in on the signing of former striker Neil Harris from Nottingham Forest.

Millwall are closing in on the signing of former striker Neil Harris from Nottingham Forest.

Harris, 29, spent more than five years at The Den before moving to Forest in 2003, where he has found himself in and out of the first team.

Lions chairman Stewart Till is hopeful of concluding a deal for Harris, though he admits other sides are also in the hunt for the player.

"Negotiations have been taking place recently," Till told Millwall's official website.

"We are very hopeful that Neil will have a medical and sign on Monday.

"We're not the only club in the race to sign Neil which is why we don't want to say too much at this stage but we would be delighted to have him back."

Meanwhile, Forest boss Colin Calderwood is poised to resist all offers for leading scorer Grant Holt.

Holt appeared on the verge of leaving Forest earlier in the season after his club agreed a £300,000 fee with Bristol City, only for the player then to reject a switch.

Calderwood is now determined to retain his 11-goal marksman.

"At the moment, we wouldn't entertain anyone," said Calderwood.

"We've had phone calls about Grant, as we've had with three or four other players and we've said no."
